Download all Minutes (MWord, 60kb) Some items of interest are highlighted below.

Associate Directors – Lacrosse Australia is managed by a Board comprising 6 Directors, with each Director responsible for a specific portfolio. Current portfolios are Administration & Finance, Development, Participation, Communications, Coaching & Officiating and Indoor Lacrosse. The Board is seeking to provide support for each Director through the appointment of an Associate Director for each portfolio to work with the elected Director. The intent is that Associate Directors will attend Board meetings conducted in their home State to provide a broader understanding of how the Board works and the types of issues it must manage. Expressions of interest from interested people are invited to be submitted to Lacrosse Australia at the above address, or by contacting the Director of the portfolio of interest, before April 30, 2008.

State Association Board meetings – Lacrosse Australia Directors have expressed their willingness to attend their home State Association Board meetings if invited, and provision has been made for Directors to attend State Association Board meetings other than their home State, if requested, to discuss issues specific to their portfolio.

Competitions – Keith Chamberlain and Bob Hewitson have been re-appointed as Competition Manager in Victoria and South Australia respectively.

The 2008 Australian Under 17 Tournament and Australian Under 19 Championship will be conducted at the Caulfield Lacrosse Club.

A copy of the final Financial Report from the Australian Lacrosse League which was conducted from 2004 to 2007 has been distributed to State Associations.

LA Competitions Handbook – A number of significant changes were made to the LA Competitions Handbook at this meeting including:

  • changes necessary to formalise the change from the Australian Lacrosse League format to the Australian Senior Championship carnival format;
  • the requirement for Senior Championships to be played on artificial surface;
  • the introduction of the 2 Qualifying Rounds for competitions with only 4 teams competing and others – which must all be managed by those responsible for conducting these events on behalf of Lacrosse Australia.

Indoor Lacrosse – State Associations have been offered an incentive of up to $2,000 to conduct one or more State Indoor competitions in 2008 with specific requirements. The LA Board is keen to encourage stronger State Association participation in a 2009 national competition with a view to the development of the skills and knowledge required for Australia to be represented at the next World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.

All enquiries and submissions in relation to Indoor Lacrosse should be directed through the LA Director of Indoor Lacrosse, Graeme Reddaway.

2010 Australian Team – Following the appointment of John Denic to the role of 2010 Australian Team Coaching Director, applications for Team Coaches positions have been invited, with applications closing on 4 April.
