Championship underway
The U19 World Lacrosse Championship has commenced and while Australia had nearly as many scoring opportunities as Canada (33-36), the final score was Canada 25 Australia 7.

The final score was 11-12 with England scoring the last goal in the final 30 seconds of play.

Australia play Japan tomorrow and must win to restore their confidence and place themselves in a winning position against the Iroquois the following day.

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Organizers of the 2008 ILF World Under 19 Men’s Lacrosse Championships are pleased to announce a deal with GRUMPmedia Inc. to provide web-casting services for the upcoming Under 19 World Lacrosse Championships.

I am pleased to announce that over the weekend of December 6–9 the final Australian U19 Lacrosse Team and Referees was selected. This took many hours of discussion using a variety of processes to assess each player.

The team will compete in the 2008 ILF World Under 19 Men’s Lacrosse Championships to be played in the City of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

Lacrosse Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of: Dennis Newman as Assistant Coach 2008 Australian U19 Men’s Team. Dennis was an Assistant Coach at last years ASPAC Tournament and this appointment continues Dennis’ coaching work.

The team will compete in the 2008 ILF World Under 19 Men’s Lacrosse Championships to be played in the City of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

Mr Terry Smith to the position of Assistant Manager

of the Under 19 Australian Men’s Lacrosse team.

Terry was an Assistant Manager for the U21 Development Team that played in the Asia Pacific Tournament in 2005 and brings a tireless work ethic along with necessary skills to the team. Please join me in congratulating Terry on his appointment.

Appointment of Executive Director

Lacrosse Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Keith Chamberlain to the position of Executive Director of the Under 19 Australian Men’s Lacrosse team.

The team will compete in the 2008 ILF World Under 19 Men’s Lacrosse Championships, (venue yet to be determined).

Keith’s appointment follows a series of advertising and interview stages Lacrosse Australia conducts for World Championship events.

The position is viewed as one of the most important in setting up and administering the coaching and management groups required to develop and prepare an Australian team.

The Board of Lacrosse Australia wishes Keith all the best for this new venture following his success at the helm of the U21 Australian Development Team who competed in the recent 2005 Asia Pacific Lacrosse Tournament, where he no doubt added to his experience in the field of team administration; and we as a Board look forward similar success in 2008.

What follows from here, is the advertising and appointments of Coaching and other Managerial and Support personnel, and the consideration of a potential overseas tour, and we look forward to the interest from the general Lacrosse community in filling these positions.
