Lacrosse Australia Announcement | 17 January 2009
2009 U21 LA Development Team
Appointment of Executive Director
2009 Lacrosse Australia U21 Development Team
Team's participation at ASPACs in doubt Failure to find and appoint a suitable person to the position of Executive Director to lead the team, leaves the participation of the team at the event in doubt. January 15th 2009, has been set as the date a final decision will be made, and unless a suitable candidate to fill the position is found, Lacrosse Australia will be left with no alternative other than to advise the event organisers that the team from Australia will be withdrawn. In a last appeal to attract suitable candidates to apply for the position, Lacrosse Australia makes this unfavourable announcement. If there is a person or persons interested in rescuing the teams participation, allowing those players who have already registered their interest in trying out for the team, you are encouraged to contact the undersigned as a matter of urgency. Australia was instrumental in the development of the bi-annual Asia Pacific Lacrosse Championship event, and it will be a disappointment to the growth and development of the game in our region, if the founders are forced to withdraw its team. 2012 Under 19 Australian Men's Lacrosse Team Position Vacant Executive Director Australia will enter a team in the Under 19 World Lacrosse Championships, scheduled to be held in Finland during the month of July, 2012. The role of Executive Director is the most senior position in our National Teams program, and although demanding, it is equally rewarding as you lead the team into a World Championship. This appointment will follow an interview process during the first quarter of 2010, and we encourage those persons seeking to be involved at the highest level to apply. Those interested should contact the undersigned in the first instance, to register their interest. Allan Frederick

Anyone interested should contact Director Allan Frederick Time is short and our young players deserve this opportunity for international exposure which cannot happen unless a management team is in place.
PRESS RELEASE | 2 December 2008 Opportunity to be part of Australian Lacrosse history On 15 March 2007 a new company was incorporated to be the National Governing Body for the Unified Sport of Lacrosse in Australia. The two year transition period for implementation of this Body is coming to an end and the first Annual General Meeting of Australian Lacrosse Association Limited will be held by Teleconference on Wednesday 10 December 2008. This will be: 8pm for Eastern Time for the States of New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria; The Chairman of Australian Lacrosse Association limited David Fox advised today that it was possible for interested persons as well as the nominated State Proxy to be part of this history making event. Advances in teleconferencing it will make it possible for next Wednesday’s teleconference AGM to be totally under the control of Australian Lacrosse Association and it is possible with prior arrangements for persons interested in the meeting to dial in to the conference for the cost of a local call. Only delegates and Directors will be able to participate in the discussions but other interested people from the Lacrosse community will be able to listen in to the discussions and hear the progress of the meeting. So that enough “lines” are booked for the conference it is necessary to register your interest to David Fox by email to dfox@dfoxca.net in advance and you will be emailed the number to call in your capital city along with a participant’s PIN number which you will need to activate your inclusion in the call. David said that the meeting would be particularly of interest to members of State Boards and those that were responsible for the development of Lacrosse in each State. The items for discussion will be limited to those on the Agenda which was circulated to Member States three weeks ago. Item four on the Agenda will be the declaration by the returning officer of the results of the postal vote conducted to determine if the number of Directors should be increased from six to eight, and then the declaration of the successful candidates from the field of twelve that have stood for election. This is a first for Lacrosse in opening up the AGM up to all interested persons. David said that he hoped this teleconference would be the forerunner of scheduled teleconferences to discuss national Lacrosse matters on a regular basis and suggested that he saw Australian Lacrosse Association holding this type of discussion on a quarterly basis if there was sufficient the interest shown by the Lacrosse community and this meeting proved to be a success. Hi, my name is Clint Kostesky. I am from Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada. I was recently talking with a friend of mine that attended Cornell University in the United States, he was telling me that his lacrosse team was approached by a representative from Australian lacrosse and they were looking for lacrosse coaches over there. I'm trying to find out more information about this. I was hoping you could possibly help me out with some information on who or how I could find out more about this. I am also wondering if you accept import players into your leagues. I grew up playing both indoor and outdoor lacrosse and currently play Senior A lacrosse in Canada which is our highest level. I am looking into moving there and would like to stay with the game somehow either coaching or playing. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you very much

My name is Pete Martin. I played in AU for the Wanerro Chiefs in 2004 (WA). I now run a company called LaxTube.com which seeks to promote growth in our sport by showing quality game film from around the world. I had such an amazing experience playing lacrosse in Australia that I wanted to take this opportunity to give back and offer to post any video from any of the leagues and at any age on our site. Rosters for the U-17s can be included which would allow them to be recruited by the American College Coaches that use our site. Please respond to me direct and let me know if you can send anything to us. Pete Martin

Between June 2008 and September 2009 I have the opportunity to spend time on placement. I am keen to try and spend some of this time in Australia and coaching lacrosse. I am currently building my portfolio for the ELA Level 2 Coaching Award, and have experience coaching with beginners and moderate players with my univeristy team.
